Israelite House of David - The Passenger Steamship Theodore Roosevelt
  
The passenger steamship Theodore Roosevelt was one of several ships that transported people between Chicago and Benton Harbor in the first half of the 20th century. The Chicago clientele the park built up during this period continued to be a significant source of paying visitors well after the ships ceased operation. The House of David had a successful booth on Navy Pier during the Chicago World's Fair in 1933 and 1934. After the fair closed the House of David bought a fleet of passenger trams used at the fair. For several years these trams were used as an alternative to the Inter-Urban streetcars for getting guests from the ships to the Britain Ave. miniature train depot.
